JOSHUA RINGLE HOME INSPECTOR
Radon Testing
Measuring the average Radon concentration within a structure.
Service Description
Radon is an odorless and colorless gas that is formed by the breakdown of Uranium within the earth's crust. It is everywhere and can only be detected with specialized equipment. The EPA has determined that exposure to high concentrations (above 4pCi/L) over an extended period of time can cause lung damage/cancer. A great source for further information is www.epa.gov/radon For a real estate transaction, the testing device must be left in the home for a minimum of 48 hours. Most companies use 4" round containers filled with charcoal which absorbs radon from the air. This is the industry standard but has some limitations. That is why my company uses Continuous Radon Monitors in New Jersey. These have the advantage of providing an hourly radon concentration reading, can show if they have been moved and are not affected by high moisture environments. If there is a Radon Remediation system present it is inspected for function and proper installation. Any issues that need further investigation are listed in the report.
